Know what are the activities according to each educational stage?

School excursions aim to provide values and knowledge that complement the learning received in the classrooms. Living experiences outside the center is always enriching, since they transfer to the real world the teachings that are given in class, giving them a practical approach for students to live in first person.

Each journey from the center must be considered in a particular way: it must be adapted to the educational stage to which it is directed and be clear about the didactic objective that is to be fulfilled.
Therefore, it will not be planned in the same way an excursion for students of 1st cycle of early childhood education than one for high school.
According to the theme of the excursions and the objectives to which they respond, they can be classified into:

Cultural

The places that are visited are usually museums, exhibitions, projections, plays,…

Recreational

They are focused on entertainment. They usually involve sports activities, games and workshops.
Instructive
They are those that are integrated into a curricular unit, and have an educational objective adapted to the lessons that are being taught in the course. They are usually associated with a cultural visit or an outing in nature.

Community services

In these types of activities, students learn the value of helping others in their own community. It is a more social learning that fosters empathy and has a very enriching purpose, since they show the student their role in the community.
And depending on the educational stage of the students, a type of experience that encourages values and covers some learning is recommended.

Infants education

In this first educational stage, the essential thing is to opt for sensory experiences and activities with which students learn from their own experiences. They are discovering the world, so it is an essential moment to teach them values and foster them (respect, tolerance, equality,…) Awakening their curiosity, teaching them to interpret what they see and stimulating creativity is essential.
Workshops, emblematic street walks, nature outings and visits to monuments and very visual museums, full of experiential activities, are the most recommended activities. Instructive experiences to learn through fun.

Primary

At this stage, more cultural visits can be introduced, since the students better assimilate the concepts, their curiosity about the environment wakes up and more relevant questions begin to arise. Visits to natural science museums, about the evolution of humanity and the universe will help you answer these questions that have begun to be asked. In nature outings and sport activities they can be given a little more independence, promoting individual values, but also the importance of teamwork to achieve objectives collaboratively.

High school

Students begin to show more adults and independent. The themes of excursions may be more specific. In any case, experiential visits are still recommended, as they are the most effective when it comes to learning through entertainment. You can link excursions to more specific subjects and subjects, such as technology, culture or art. Cultural activities will awaken your senses and encourage your creativity. Adventure sports can present themselves as a more complicated challenge, since their motor skills are at an optimal point. Trips can be extended, even for more than one day, as students are more autonomous. Foreign languages can be included in the activities.

Council

Depending on the branch chosen by each student, the activities chosen for the excursion may be more specialized, whether as a visit to a museum, a natural site, a technology park or a show. At this stage, students can be considered practically adults, and the need for supervision changes. It is very interesting to consider excursions as a practical extension of the teaching units that are being studied in class.
